When we heard from Ibrahim Spasic, from the International Peace Center in Sarajevo that his flight back to Sarajevo was cancelled, because of the fact that the American government ask the UN not to fly in the coming 3 days over Bosnia, I really had this feeling o, god it is going to happen an tomorrow is Friday the 13th. Curtis was at UNHCR when the fax came in from America, the people at the office reacted very amused, their reaction was something like, o, they wanted to send a fax to Milosovic or Karadzic and dial the wrong number. Any way the day is nearly over and the bombers haven't come yet. I don't know if you can understand that feeling, but during such period as now your ears are always half listening to something else, if you can hear aeroplanes, or a radio for news, for nearly 10 days the newspapers here in Croatia are writing about the growing possibility that the bombers will come soon. Last time the American army invited all the foreign journalists in this area to come to Italy and nothing happened. During some discussion about the possible intervention somebody said today that this intervention, when it happen is not the liberate the Muslims but against the Muslims. In the last month the BiH (Muslim) army has shown that they are not so powerless as every body thought they were. Especially the HVO lost a lot of territory. The intervention, when it will take place, will prevent that BiH army gain more territory, according to the speaker. There are rumours going around that Bangla Desh wants to send 50.000 volunteers to fight in BiH army and that Arabic states want to pay for their weapons. In that case and when they come through to central Bosnia, the BiH army has a change to win all the parts of BiH, which are now under control from Pale and Mostar. As said it are rumours, there is absolute no proof for it. Just a few minutes ago I heard the news that in Geneva they seems have agreed that the Bosnia Serbian army should remove their troops from both mountains Sarajevo by tomorrow 16.00, if not than the next rounds of the peace talks, planned for Monday wouldn't take place. So it looks that we don't have to worry tonight. Izetbegovic said in his press conference after the talks of today that he wants at least 50% from BiH for the Muslim (in the plans at the moment they get 30%). Further on he made ones again clear that he in principle is strongly disagree with any splitting up of BiH and that he only agrees with this new plans to stop the fighting, he choose between two bad things. He also said that when the Bosnian Serbs have removed themselves from the both hills is the threat of air strikes should not be lifted, at least not before all Bosnian Serbian units around Sarajevo are removed and the town can be declared safe again. From the small group of 58 activists of "Mir Sada", who left the main group of nearly 1000 people in Prozor in order to try to get to Sarajevo nobody in our circle of friends heard anything yet. According to what we know they are not in Sarajevo, the main group has returned home, after a short visit of the half of the group in Mostar (they didn't went there from Prozor, but return to Mostar from Split). Ibrahim, according what Eric and Zoran told me today, I didn't meet him yet, hope to see him tomorrow morning, still don't want to hear the words "Mir Sada" at the moment. He is very angry on the whole organisation, especially because of the fact that they, the organisation, has said in the public media that Ibrahim invited them to come, which is according to Ibrahim a un true story. In the peace centre we had this morning a visit from two women from a Paris group, which is helping mostly Sarajevo, they also went to Split to join "Mir Sada", but left the group already before the went to Prozor. The reason for leaving was basically the religious imago from the whole thing, they went with a part of the group to Medjugorje to get the blessing from Maria. On the main square from Zagreb was yesterday a very aggressive demonstration of load shouting Croatian refugees from central Bosnia against the Muslims. This is not the first and probably not the last demonstration of this kind, I notice a simular demonstration in Split about 10 days ago and also they took place in front of the BiH embassy in Zagreb. Also for the first time in a year candles are burning again in front of the "monument" on the main square and in front of it stands now a small group of Bosnian Croats. When I told Vanja today about the story I heard in Serbian part of Pakrac about the killing of the Croatia police men (according to that story they killed each other since they were drunk), she reacted that it is precisely the way which Croats and Muslims die according to the Serbian press agencies, so nothing special. Croats are specialists in killing themselves, she said, and we are also great in bombing our own cities. But she also had to admit that the story that UNPROFOR was co-responsible for the killing, some people even said that they were the main responsible people, they let the Serbian terrorists through the front-line, she also had to admit that those opinions are a bit over the hill as well. When I will be back in Pakrac next week I really hope to find out what has happened, at least as far as that can be traced back.
