I got it some days ago in a pub on Tkalciceva, were they were cleaning up there stocks and found a whole box of them. Writing about that Milos Milosovic I realised that never lived in a country before where sport plays an important role abroad, at least that's is often the feeling. The Netherlands is good in biking, football and skating and that is about it. But here tennis, basketball, football, swimming it all seems to be rather important and Croatia clubs are active in the highest European competitions, it seems, I must admit that I never was a good follower of sport events, so don't blame if it is only a feeling or if it is true. Sport and national propaganda, our rather called it national identity building, another one of this things which surprise me still. Following the paradox, in Biograd last night 1 women was killed by shelling from Krajina, Zadar was hit yesterday evening around 10 o'clock, and also Zupanja is again under attack from the Bosanska Posavina, where HVO troops still have a piece of the area in the North of BiH on the other side of the river Sava than Zupanja lays, the attacks didn't came of course from the HVO troops, but from the Bosnian Serbian armies. In Kiseljak the HVO stopped the blockade around two UNPROFOR barracks in the town. According for as how far I could follow the story HVO started this surroundings to have UNPROFOR's help to get two of their commanders back which are in the UNPROFOR CanBat barracks, the commanders are seen by the Muslims as guilty of war crimes and were in the CanBat barracks for Canadian liberation day or something, in Visoko a little north of Kiseljak and which barracks are surrounded by BiH armija since Saturday. But it could be that I missed a few points in this newest developments in central Bosnia. But on Croatia television there was still no mentioning of co-operation between Bosnian Serbian troops and HVO. Outside on the streets it is more or less accepted reality. But I don't get the feeling that a lot of Croats in Croatia are very happy with that development. The latest news from UNPROFOR Zagreb is by the way that the two Croats will be hand over to HVO and that in exchange HVO will let a few captured troops from BiH from their prisons. That seemed to be anyway the most important reason why they surrounded the barracks, against the will of the central commander in Sarajevo by the way. At the border between Serbia and the Bosnia Serbian republic the first UNHCR stands who is got up in the negotiations about the new road tax in Bosnian Serbian republic. From the border to Srebrenica that would be 150 US$ and back from Srebrenica to border again. Mladic was joking in an interview that he liked the Muslim and that they should stay, bit stop fighting against him, without them in the cities it would be empty, like the white and black in America cities, but not too much Muslims. But also what Tudjman said in his monthly press conference makes you siffering. He admit that when the fights between Croats and Muslims in central Bosnia continue he and his government will serious reconsider the situation of the Muslim Bosnian refugees in Croatia. I hope that it just is meant as political pressure remark, but an idea of 250.000 hostages about whom I discussed on one evening is than something what is not so hard to imagine. Let's hope for the best. He also said that there is absolute no true in the rumours that he is busy with a secret agreement with the Serbian government of exchange of territory. In particular people are talking about the area near Dubrovnik, the rumours is that their are negotiations going about exchanging some pieces of land their, so the Bosnian Serbian republic could have a better access to the sea and Croatia get a better zone around Dubrovnik. Lot's of words also about the British aid female worker of 56 of Direct Aid which is shot down at snipers alley in Sarajevo. A British journalist describe the operation as good willing amateurs who may have under estimated the danger of the war. But on the other hand UNHCR are also shot at so even the pro's have problems, he had to admit later in the report. From the health authorities from Sarajevo came new figures about the amount of children who died since the beginning of the war, I am not sure but I thought I heard 14.000, let's hope I only misheard one zero. Much more positive was the news that we wouldn't be the only foreigners in Pacras in the coming period. Also an, seems to rather important French organisation was shown on television who brought a big donation to the town, as well as some German organisation. On the border of UNPA East in Nuster a group of people with camera's and video camera's made their own private report of the war zones. All of this guests from all over world are second and third generation Croats. Bok I Mir from Zagreb, Wam P.S. the telephone bill for the computer network came in at ARK, 3000 DEM more than 2000 DEM than normal, due to that one night telephone call with Geneva and the problems with the modem set up. ------------------------------------------------------ Zagreb Diary can be found on a lot of different electronic networks, it is copyright free and can be ported to any network or other means of communication you like, but please drop my a line, you can reach by sending a message to wam@zamir-zg.comlink.de or wam@zamir-zg.comlink.apc.org.
