And of course I asked him how was it down there. He replied that they just on breakfast had a talk with some of the foreign volunteers in HVO, who are staying in Citluk Hotel and they told them: "It is just like the Lebanon at this moment, it is horrible" And they know were they are talking about since it is surely not the first war where most of the guys are fighting in. At least that was the reaction on the situation of yesterday, according to the message today the situation was relative quiet this morning, only some sporadic gunfire. Back in Citluk you only could hear the shooting and grenade throwers, but for the rest it is quiet. The UNPROFOR battalions are yesterday not allowed into the city is been said, since the HVO road blocks don't let anybody through . Not that they office people of Citluk have much interest to go there, but I am worried for the ones in Citluk who work in the hospital in Mostar and have to drive up and down all the time. On the television picture it looks if the hospital lays very much in the fire line, but most of the fighting seems to be in side the centre of the city on the west bank of the river. Marillon said asked in a television interview that according to his knowledge the HVO soldiers were rounding up Muslims and brought them, even women and children, and bring them according to his information sources to the football stadion, about 1000 all in all (you could see in a vague shot of the football stadion taken from the road above Mostar in the direction of Siroki Brijeg, as far as I could recognize it, next to the big Hospital, the people, a few hundred in the middle of the field). But he didn't want to admit that there is ethnical cleansing going on there. He said that it is unacceptable for him what happens in central Bosnia and Mostar-Konijc area, but that it is too early to accuse HVO from ethnical cleansing, they will send in first a delegation to investigate what went on and what is going on and then maybe ..... . Anyway it strange to see the grenade going through the same street and people hit by snipers laying on the ground as were about 3 weeks ago we drunk coffee in the sun. Just at the moment that you think it is over a whole new chapter of the war started. The reaction of HVO today said that those people in the football stadion came more or less all by themselves there to search some safety, furthermore most of the people couldn't produce papers proving that they are citizens of Mostar. Later today a report from the stadion was broadcasted, stating that it weren't prisoners, but Muslim and Croatian refugee, who escape the small village East of Mostar, which were according to the report on HTV attack by Muslim extremists. The security council in New York, however, condemned the acting of HVO in the last day and called upon Tudjman to use all his influences to stop the fighting as soon as possible. The famous colonel Bob from the Britforce in Vitez gave his good-bye party yesterday and full filled the dream of some HVO commanders, they could have a look inside the famous Cheshire "Warriors". Of course afterwards they had there nice drinking party, as good-bye present he gave some nice Iron beer-drinking cups away and then of to the UK. We will see what the next commander is look like. In other parts of BiH it seems if some of the cease-fires start to hold a little longer than we are normally used to, the Ukrainian UNPROFOR troops were at last allowed to go into Zepa and found till their surprise only about 50 people left from the original nearly 6000. Most people went into the mountains to hide for the war. The aid workers with came with UNPROFOR ended up with a new problem, how to get the people back from the mountains into the city. In Gorazde something happened, which is too strange to be true, unfortunately it is true, an aid package which was dropped out of an aeroplane killed 4 people. Just from the other side of the border in Serbia, Sandjak region if I understood right in the town of Priboj USAmerican journalist found a simular situation as in parts of Bosnia, Muslim people driven away from there homes. In Croatia we faced since last night a railway strike, not that the railways are the main of transport, you only can use the line from Zagreb over Osijek to Slavonski Brod and the lines to Rijeka and Slovenia, the important railroad down to Split goes over Knin and is therefore not able to be used. The railway workers started yesterday evening with their strike, since they hadn't received their payments for the last month. This afternoon however they had some meetings with some government officials and decided to start running again.
