If you see the hundreds of journalist now in f.e. Medjugorje or Split you are soon convinced that the hotels and restaurants are doing great trade. Beside that you see very regularly in the town in front of a house a Red Cross, UNPROFOR, UNHCR, or who knows what standing. And you know that the owners of the house, like my landlord, moved somewhere in by somebody and rent out his apartment. The prices are a lot higher now a day than a year ago. I would love to know what all those organisations and media groups have paid in this war, but it must be a gigantic amount. If you think that renting a house or room in Zagreb is cheap, especially as foreigner, forget it. Due to all those foreigners from aid organisations and embassies the prices went sky high. And all this organisations have the same problem, namely communication, telephone lines are hard to get around here. If we are talking about throwing money out of the window, we can also see how some International organisations are doing absolute no investigation before they pump money in projects. The EC has sponsored that ship in the Adriatic, not only was the idea for such a ship already launched by a group from Slovenia in 1991 (the called it EPPO, European Peace Press Organisation), but we are still not able to receive it and in Macedonia they mixed up with the national radio. Their must be technicians around to exclude such mistakes. Another example is the AIM (Alternative Information Network) network, also sponsored by the EC, this network has as aim to link professional journalist in former Yugoslavia together and provide information abroad to newspapers. Fantastic idea and should be done immediately, but what happens is that the EC supports a plan in which two simular systems like our ZaMir systems, running the same German software, will be build up in Zagreb and Beograd, which will phone for their to Germany, instead of us to Vienna. Maybe a bit technical, but when our users want to send something to users on that new to form system the mail must for go to Vienna and than to Hannover, than to Munchen and than back to Zagreb and that the travel not more than 1 km. We would welcome a new system in Zagreb, to take some of our loud of our back, we only have one telephone line which is just 40-60% of the time. You notice the war can frustrate you some times and strange enough you get rather more frustrated from this little things than from the war as a whole. Then ever lasting carrousel out there which seems to have the whole world in it's grip (what with other wars, what kind of news do you see abroad, we only see your news when it is about this countries, never something else, I know about other wars through the networks, although I don't believe that in those other area's so much people are on-line involved as in this one). It is war out there, so what it was yesterday war, last week war, last year war, and it will be tomorrow war, and god knows how long more, and in wars people get murdered, raped, captured in camps, shelled and human rights will be violated. That is part of the reality. Nothing so special if your mind is busy with trying to find a solution to get radio equipment into Bihac, it should be by air with UNPROFOR, since none organisation want to take the risk of transporting it over land. But to get into UNPROFOR you have to be a little bit better back up by bigger organisations, since we are to much Grassroot, at least here, in Hercegovina they come and visit our volunteers. And how do you get the permission from HPT to broadcast from Zagreb, in Bihac it will be not such a big problem, who will control it there anyway. You use small thing to blow of steam, and you have to blow of steam some times, since is was yesterday war, and......... It makes not much sense to punish your brain day after day what will happen tomorrow, or how to stop it. People enough around the globe outside which have developed their theories, my god we live in it, so we see all those ideas in practice or rather not in practice. And we are busy to fight to get some pills through the customers, you know just 200 Km south they just shell the hell out of a hospital. We are collecting with a lot of problems money and material to build up some village and 200 Km further from their houses are being destroyed every day. Or even worst you just repaired something and two weeks later a grenade waste it in a second. And you can't get angry and have to start again, because that is where you are here for. Just heard that the mother of the guy which is making HELP, for which I help him to find the money, is killed some days ago in Sarajevo, they only thing what I can do is finding him the money to make that newspaper for children, since his mother I can't bring back. He should be busy with something, if not he get's bananas like so many people. I have seen so many people who went over the hill.
