And not only me but most of NeXus also are living on borrowed money, the regular gifts are not coming in as we were use to. Let's hope for the best, otherwise we have to start to survive on the humanitarian aid we rather would like to spread out to those who need it more. Place of the Republic, Place of the victims of fascism, Boulevard of the proletariat, and more of those nice names you can find on any map of Zagreb which is made before 1992, all those street and square still exist, but if you address a letter to those old addresses you can be sure it wouldn't arrive. The called different now. Anyway most people get use to it, some old people forget it, but it is them forgiven, but when young people name the places by their old name the show there resistance against the Croatian government. I know enough people for whom the place of the big Croats, or how would you translate it ("Trg Hrvatskin Velikana") will be forever the place of the victims of fascism. It is just a matter of time they say and the name will be come back. On that square today the remembering of those victims of fascism (of the WWII), there were a lot more people than last year. Remembering victims of the fascist regime in Croatia on a moment that a SKY reporter in Vitez says that the fights between Muslims and Croats in that part of BiH are basically between the "ultra fascist" (his words) HOS militia and the about 1500 foreign soldiers in BiH armija and their new born Bosnian Muslim extremists. Strange remark if you think that last year the BiH HOS commander was killed by a local MUP (police) road block near Mostar and the secret explanation of this killing (according to some people I talked with months ago) was that HOS collaborated to much with the Muslims. The area in and around Mostar is however now a new battle field, which is not anymore some street fights and some sporadic (as reporters say so under cooled if they report from Vitez) gun and mortar fire. If you see the pictures and hear the stories by telephone I can imagine that some people (Croats) are more afraid for the Muslims than for the Serbs in that region. The last weeks most of the fighting's in that region were between Croats and Muslims and the Bosnian Serb stronghold at the television tower above the city was quiet. You notice from this saying how fast meanings can change if the situation of war comes closer by. All this of course makes me clear that the joke I made today about the fact that the war will be over soon, just at the moment that I was getting used to it, is not so coming out, for the time being it look more that I will have to learn a lot more about war. What precisely is happening down there is hard to figure out, the different news agencies in Zagreb are not particular on one line at this moment. The stories from Muslim sides are, you would say of course different than the Croatian interpretation. Clear is that if you follow both the stories that on each place both of the forces were attack by the others and needed to defend itself. Not through all this violence, but through the quiet parts of Croatia this week a group of peace runners will go, they left from Ljubljana yesterday and entered Croatia. This Peace Run of Chi Chinoy (if I write his name right, probably not) will be here in Zagreb in a few days and I am wondering how big the manifestation here will be. From what we heard from Ljubljana it was relative big, what wonders me is that the peace runners didn't take up contact with the peace groups who are active here, but maybe I overlooked the post. The waiting had some result today, the UN send 50 more monitors, the first who arrived in the Zepa were not allowed to continue in the cars into the town they had to walk. You can imagine that the decision of the safety council to send 50 monitors was received with a lot of hilarity, after the strong words from the last week. 50 more people who will write down what every body is doing and how everybody is killing each other. Most of the UNPROFOR commanders on the ground, as it calls, also reacted a little confused, the national British hero, colonel Bob (from who the rumour goes that UN offered him a job) was surprisingly a little more soft in his reaction than we are used from him. Some of his colleagues made absolute clear that they will take the order when they are send to them, but that they are absolute not happy with the decision of the safety council. They are openly also not so happy with the discussion about lifting the arm embargo, there are already enough weapons they say, on all sides, we should get less rather than more.
