The photo's show that it was actual much worst than we had heard so far. The bridge is gone, if you didn't knew that it has been there you probably wouldn't even notice that it has been there all those centuries. I have seen the bridge in better times, walked over it and saw the young boys jumping from it in the cold Neretva river, something like a jump from nearly 30 meters. I have also seen it a few months ago in the time that it was the only connection in Mostar after the JNA had blown up the other ones (now the only connection is a pontoon bridges build some months ago). I was there during the last real fight between the HVO-BiH armija combination against the Serbs on the hill near the television tower. Trucks and ambulances could drive up to the both sides of the bridge, but all the supplies and wounded people had to be carried over it by hand. And now nothing of it is left over. It wasn't planned to remove it was said in the newspapers, it happened by accident, but that is hard to believe, in the months before the bridge was hit a few times, but never ever it collapsed. Bridges is BiH calls the chapter of Mark Thompson's book "A paper house" about the ending of Yugoslavia. He wrote it in the days that everybody in BiH hoped that the war wouldn't come to that part, what happened I month later. Bridges between people, between Bosnian's from all the different nations. But although there maybe still be real Bosnians left, most of them has become Muslims, Croats or Serbs. Between those groups there are hardly any bridges left. And the reality is that the real bridges in BiH also nearly all has been destroyed. Some days ago ARK was phoned by some alternative newspaper from Germany. The people of that newspaper had the idea to organise a boycott action against Croatian products in German shops (I can't imagine that their would be a lot of them, probably only sardines). The reason of this boycott is to stress Croatia to stop their influences in the war in BiH. The people of the paper wanted to know what ARK was thinking about such an idea. I think that almost everybody in ARK has been against the economical boycott of Serbia since it started last year and the effects of that boycott, is getting a little bit more clear in the last months, but as we thought for the time being not positively, considered that the effect of the boycott should have been that the war would stop and the popularity of the warlords would be less. For the time being that is not the case. It is there for not strange that actual nobody was really enthusiastic about this German idea. But that is clear, it has been said some times before. Most of today I spend waiting near the telephone, the Peace circus comes to Croatia and Teet (one of the four members) from Estonia phoned from Hungary this morning to tell that they are on their way down. A few hours later they phoned from a Slovenian border station. The Slovenes refused than to pass through their country, although it was only 12 Kilometer, so they had to go back all the way and will come over a direct border between Croatia and Hungary. So I probably have to wait some more hours for them. Oh, yes, I seems that Clinton (again) has said that the states will use their airpower against the Serbian positions around Sarajevo if the shelling on the city wouldn't stop. I think this is the 4th time that he is announcing it (and that nothing really happened) and I wonder how long he thinks that such warnings will work. At last after 5 hours waiting, and me doing two telephonic interviews, they arrived in Zagreb, on the corner from Vukovar Boulevard and Heinzelova I met the Omma (called after some old Nordic goddess), which have been travelling now for months throughout the whole of Europe to organise all kind of small peace circus performances, they don't perform themselves but build shows together with the people, children they are with. At this moment the group has 5 members, beside Teet, two from Sweden and two from the brand new Czech republic (one of them being the official wife of Paxus (a friend of mine from the states, who lives now in the Czech republic to fight against atomic powerplants, which are build be American companies)). They will stay in Croatia until the beginning of December and beside from in the Danish refugee camps, they will play in Pakrac, probably in Karlovac and Osijek. After I brought them to my house in Brace Domany, where they could park their bus, we went for eating in the state vegetarian restaurant (I haven't been in that place for over a year, and I must say they have a much better person in the kitchen now), from there we went site seeing by night. A few hours later we bumped into a group of young Croats from abroad who do translation work for UNPROFOR. When I asked them where they were based, one of them hanged over to me and whisper "Glina" (A town in Krajina near Knin, the town were Djakula and his friends are in prison), so the rest of the evening we talked about other things.
