In the early morning there has been a fast research and both has been arrested. Do you get the picture Croatian police arresting Croatian police. Lot's of people were angry on those stupid police cops and that was also something totally new for me. I had to stay in bed today since the virus came back, but I was not the only one, also Ana, Burkie and Gauthier had to stay in bed, each of us fell a little dizzy and had stomach problems and knowing that I was not the only one I was rather glad. I was surprised during the night that I suddenly had to throw up, without having drunk a drop of alcohol in more than 24 hours. In the room I found one of the newest books about the war in Croatian, written by a famous female write from Zagreb (lost the name for a moment), who also wrote the book "we survived communism and laugh also", this book is called "Balkan Express". Although I know from most of my friends in Zagreb that they do not really like the women I must say that I liked the book. The scenery was very known for me, although most story were written in the time just before I arrived in Zagreb. Nevertheless in the last story about a female refugee from Sarajevo I found out that were some cross references in my and her circle of friends in Zagreb, I also met the person she mentioned, she stayed with some friends of mine, I think I also wrote about here. I further more met her, the refugee, a few times at some meetings and know the high heals she described in her book. Strange if you walk to a book of somebody, I had the same thing with Glennies book. I know a lot of his characters and the places he has been and that is weird as weird as somebody reading this diary and coming to this place and notice that all my main persons really exists. And I also didn't noticed that she spend more time outside than inside the country during the war, as some people say as argument against her. Maybe her stays outsides make me recognise some things I otherwise wouldn't have understood. She knows what foreigner know and what they absolute should have known but have forgotten. And that are just a few reactions I picked up over the book around the local people I know there. She certainly not beloved by all, nevertheless if you see the book, you must certainly look in it, it opens a tip of what life is behind the lines. How people started to notice the change in themselves from Yugoslavs to Croats. The feeling to become from a welcome guest a part of the face less flock of refugees. Further on I spend in bed telling everybody that I fell not all too good, but of course at that moment there always will be something what has been planned in advantage and which have to take place since people come down all the way from Zagreb. In this case Vesna T., Alex and Goran to have a discussion of the project group of the Pakrac project. Sophie had the brilliant idea to introduce the banana keepers, three people have a banana and if they can't follow the speaker for another other reason they have to raise the banana, three bananas in the air means speaker has to skip his turn. Since the meeting became rather interesting I ate my banana, I didn't had to raise it anyway. Today we more or less agree to put more serious work into starting workcamps on the other side of the cease fire line. We have a container near the UNPROFOR Post, we need only electricity from them and heating and bed. Further on the work is functioning over there, we only have to figure out the official channels so that we don't get problems with local or regional police, who knows nothing. Since like in Serbia, also in Serbian Krajina there are elections on the way (in Krajina somewhere next month) people seems to be more strict than normal. To rumours that there is a serious powerstrugle in the Knin government are raising. Anyway all of this has to be worked out before the first group can go over the line, not an easy take, especially when you are laying in bed. Lot's have happened with the project since we had our last meeting. The most urgent financial sorrows are solved, again Swiss-Aid and Klaus Vack from Komitee fur Grundrechte und Demokratie were the helpers on the rough economic sea. But we also start to realise that this is another project which has the opportunity to grow a lot bigger than it is at the moment, like Suncokret and the Women project before. We spend half the meeting discussion our expectations of the project in the future and it is clear soon we need a lot more help. We all agreed that we feel ourselves a bit in the middle of the world. Part of our aim is to help this region to develop with the help of the world in order that it will become an example for the future. Yes, you can put yourself for more simply tasks, like repairing a house or so, for the time being we are already happy if we clean a few. The rest are dreams, from which maybe a few will be realised, we shall see, as we say in Dutch Aachen and Cologne are not build in the same day.
