Anyway when I was thinking about the virtual town and when I saw those computer animation's from Jurissic Park on a television commercial I went crazy. Imagine that possibility, you can as it were create with the modern computer equipment a image of e.g. Pakrac, how it was before the war, how it is know and how it can be in the future. But of course an idea which would work in the near future. Still an interesting idea that you in fact technical are possible to build virtual towns, and maybe virtual countries. We have been talking so often about it, the virtual village of BiH. I have heard that at least two clubs from Bosnia town will join our network in Zagreb. I felt a bit better so I joint the people in the "new" house for the last cleaning round. The roof is now made, the windows repaired, most of the wall fresh painted and more important there is a heather. I can't tell you that feeling standing in front of a heather after been in a cold school for 3 days. It is if every cell in your body slowly wakes up, you feel the heat coming through your vains. I was as undercoolded as last year in Medjugorje during the Yugo winds, sometimes the quick silver went to more than 20 degrees belong zero Celsius. And the building where we slept was an empty hotel, from the 50.000 pilgrims per day who use to come to that place, not more than 100 will come today. The central heating was turned of since the owner had no money. And only when you could borrow an electric heather ones and a while you got some life in your body. On such moment you start to think what a luxe it is to have electricity or rather to have the possibility to get your house at least a bit warm. All those people in this area, who haven't got that possibility. Our "new" house has a heather and that is luxe. Our new house also smells a lot from the waxes I have been spreading on the floors, after I bought all the bottles wax in the supermarkets in the town. I was unable to buy dustbins as planned as well, since two of the three local banks run out of Croatian money. But now the floor is blinking as it should in a palace. The radio programme didn't take place, the Austrians were held up with their bus somewhere at the other side and came too late to go to Daruvar. Next week better, it has learned us at least that we have to be in contact with all authorities in this area before we can move freely. And that is a nice task to get fixed before the project grows. Sometimes you live for week from bread with Danish Feta cheese and than suddenly half the room stands full with food. That was a little bit the feeling this week, first on Monday the working brigades gave us big boxes full of juices, sugar and butter. Than on Tuesday two ArgBat UNPROFOR soldiers from the barracks in the hospital brought tons of pasta and at least 600 eggs (that is going to be omelette three times a day for at least 3 weeks), instant coffee, milk and tea. On top of it today two other members from ArgBat, from the main barracks in Pakrac, arrived with an other jeep full of goodies. They brought even fresh vegetables for us. And asked us to spread it around a bit in the town, since they are not allowed to gave something to the "locals". So all the working brigade will have omelette this week. Jojo has come to bring me back to Zagreb in a warm car and he explains me what is happening with this Argentineans. Most of them have just figured out were they are. And they had imagine it all totally different. The most important thing is that they know that they are not liked in the World, the history of the Argentinean army is particular a short one. So they feel themselves more or less seen as fascist by the rest of the World. Their reaction is to be perfect soldiers in the UN missions. But some how they fall out of their role again, since they are not use to live an isolated life. So they try to get in contact with the locals. And indeed you see this UN ArgBat a lot more often informal in the town, when they stand in line to phone home in front of the post office, but also on the market. I never ever have seen a Canadian phoning in public. On the way back to Zagreb we talked among other things about the importance of fashion in this region. Not only the fact that the fashion show in Pakrac was so well attended and on national news, but fashion is all around you. In Zagreb more clothes shops have been opened in the last year (in the centre at least) as anything else. Refugees who spend their last money on expensive clothes and shoes. Bata opens on the main square, Diesel has just opened a shop in Tkalciceva, Benneton is beside the postoffice and so are also here foreign companies taking over. Another new fact is that war souvenirs are now nearly totally out of the picture. Even in the last market place they have been changing there stuff in the last weeks. More than even Zagreb is heading for it aim, a new cosmopolite capital in this part of the world. Or is it just a facade, who knows......
