But on the whole southern front there was shelling and grenade throwing the whole day long. More over the first grenades landed on Sisak today, only 45 Km south east of Zagreb. In Zagreb also the 1.000.000 meal was served in the soap kitchen in Maksimir, for over one and half year this kitchen is feeding the poor people in Zagreb now for free. Most of their help they get from locals as I wrote some time ago, locals who bring wood for the kitchen and fresh vegetables, but the big financial help is mostly coming from the Knights of the Malta Cross, they have provided the essential needs. The 1.000.000 th luckily one, or rather unlucky one, since it is not that lucky if you have to get your food from a soap kitchen, you are more or less on the aged of existing, was a young Muslim refugee from BiH, who came their already for over a year to collect the food for his mother and brothers. As the 1.000.000 th one he received a food package with the value of 1.000.000 HDR, which is at this moment around 330 DEM. Other news I got over my Italian connections there was an article in the newspapers that a former reporter of the Serbian newspaper Borba, called Dragan has started to train Italian in Serbian extremists to make them ready to fight against the Croats in Dalmatia, according to the report 86 Italians will go in the coming weeks to get their first training together with Serbian volunteers. They will form together the Garibaldi battalion, which has as aim to win Dalamatia back for the Italian, who left their in 1943. According to my friend the article was rather comical and not taken the thing any serious. Anyway I was surprised to hear from any type of co-operation between the Italian "neo-fascist", which are mostly strong Catholics, at least in their words, and orthodox fighters, but in this war, what can be called a miracle, everything is possible. One of those things is f.e. a phonecall which Vesna got today, a few months ago we were invited at a dinner in the house of one of the Dutch reporters around here. At that dinner there was a Muslim female doctor, called Jasmina, who fight or rather operated in HVO. Vesna used her example, without using her name, in the last ARKzin. Jasmina phoned to tell that she was really proud to be mentioned in the newspapers. Her soldiers had read it first, funny to find out that ARKzin seems to be read by HVO soldiers on the front-line in central Bosnia and immediately recognised Jasmina in the story. Jasmina organised Vesna private telephone number via the HVO information service, as she said, and congratulated Vesna with the article. Which is good for her, after all those open attacks in the newspapers the last months and the knowledge that HDZ is busy with a serious investigation of ARK, as we heard via a friendly journalists. This afternoon I met friends from Citluk in Hercegovina. They guy with whom I spend so much time together when I was down in Medjugorje has spend the last months at the front-line in Mostar. Now he has some days of to organise his place at the military academy in Zagreb, it is not a long study he said and not that I want, but it was this or been send to central Bosnia and I am still sick and tired of the war. He told that also some others I know in HVO will come to Zagreb soon to join the military academy. Most of them have the same reasons. I asked how doctor Goran was doing in his hospital in Mostar and when he was finally coming to Zagreb, but as always he seems to come soon, but he probably will stay on for some months more. In the last months Goran has been in the UK and the States and he, at least, got a lot of help for his hospital. He drives now in a new Toyota four wheel drive, after he demolished 5 more cars in the last months. I know Goran's driving style so I can imagine what happened. The road between Citluk and Mostar must have been very unsafe. I also asked about the Serbian positions on the mountain, but he tells me that there is a kind of agreement that the Serbs would not mix into the fight between the Croats and the Muslims. Than we change subject and talk about the project we have started together in the beginning of the year, but for which I didn't spend much time in the last months, was too involved in the Pakrac project, to really think about other things. But they continued the activities of Terra in Hercegovina and on this moment at least 5 houses has been rebuilded in the Ravno area, thanks to help from abroad. No news today about what happened in Banja Luka, it despaired again from the general news. Also no news from Simo today, according to what I know he still in jail in Zagreb. O yeah, Vlaska opened today and it is indeed a lot better, but so many streets have to be done, hope that it will happens ones.
