After that federation is formed this federation will than form a confederation with Croatia. This all happened during our night in Washington. Karadzic wasn't there, he was in Moscow and his first reaction was that it wasn't such good thing. He accused the states that they are not a party to organise such kind of negotiations since they are not neutral. He said that no country can replace the UN and especially not when that country is biased (in this case in fever of the Muslims and Croats and against the Serbs). I must be honest, I am not often agree with Karadzic, but about this last line I only can say that I agree with him. The BiH government ambassador towards the UN, Mr. Salajdic asked for his reaction if the Bosnian Serbs would now join the peace process and about the reaction of Karadzic, didn't really opened the door for the Bosnian Serbs. His first line of his reaction wasn't so friendly, he could understand the reaction of Karadzic, since he, Karadzic was the devil who started this all. But we have learned in the last few weeks that such things can change fast, the official statements made by BiH and Croatian politicians about eachother in the last year weren't always that friendly as they are today either. Anyway Vesna and my own first reaction was something like what has Croatian to do with the policy of the Bosnian Croats, next thing will be that Tudjman is going to talk with Milosevic about the conflict between Bosnian Serbs and Bosnian Croats, they must be able to reach some kind of agreement as well, since after being each most heavy enemy for 3 years they reached some weeks ago an agreement between their own countries (Croatia and Serbia) as well, so they must be some kind of "partners" at the moment. And since the Croatian government seems to be more or less able to negotiate in the name of the Bosnian Croats it wouldn't be a big surprise if Milosevic can do the same in the name of the Bosnian Serbs. Or rather why is Clinton not directly going to talk with Jeljcin, since it seems that they are deciding at the moment and the politicians from here more or less follow them as puppets. This sounds maybe a little strange coming from somebody who like nearly everybody in this area have be shouting, praying, hoping and whatever for peace. Now it is happening, but by the day people around here are getting more surprised. For the normal people like us, which must get their information from the newspapers and television it all goes a little fast the last month and people have to get used that people who were described by that same media as enemies suddenly seems to be not that bad and actually friends. Also according to the agreement the refugees can go back to their homes and get compensations for their loose of home (as far as they are laying of course in the area controlled by this two groups in the fights). Ganic, vice president of the BiH government, ask for his explanation for the sudden movements explained that "everybody now understand". But street interviews in Zagreb and in refugees camps made by the Croatian Television showed that "everybody" is not so "everybody" as I understand "everybody". Although most people on the streets in Zagreb said that they would love that it was all true, they also said that they didn't really believe in it. In the refugee camps the reaction were if possible even stronger, people asked how it was possible that they could live together with people who killed their family, destroyed their houses and throw them out of the places were they have been living for ages. In Zepce, a HVO ("Croatian") controlled town, which was under heavy attack from BiHarmija ("Muslims") during the last period it was quiet today, also in Mostar the fights cooled down by the way. Also here people were asked for their reaction. A Croatian family who flea from a town who was taken by BiHarmija some months ago and who lived now in a house were before a Muslim family use to live, who escaped from Zepce, since they were afraid of the Croats, also reacted. They didn't see the solution yet, how and when would they be able to go home and to what they will go, to live next to the people who throw them out. And what can you expect otherwise. After our experiences in Pakrac we know very well how difficult the next steps are going to be. The reporter of the Croatian television also realised it, now the propaganda machinery who worked hard to make those people enemies of each other need to work double as hard to make them friends again was her reaction. Last but not least, it wasn't quiet the whole of Croatia, after some days without any grenades today some of them were fired from Krajina Serbian position on Biograd-Zadar area again.
