What does itmean for you, how do you feel about it, do you believe in it. What is yourposition if your parents are from two different ethical groups, f.e. yourmother Muslim and your father Croat or they other way round. Thosethis agreement bring peace in your heart, now you don't any longer haveto choice sides. Or are you just at this moment taking sides since youdon't really have to choice anymore. I know a lot of people in thisposition. As well as a lot of them from which the parents are a mixturebetween Serbs and Croats, some times living here, some time in Serbiaand some times it was reason for the parents to split. But also Serbsand Croats are friend of eachother now, since Tudjman and Milosevicalso signed a kind of agreement. So Croats made peace with theMuslims and with the Serbs, in principle only Muslims and Serbs shouldfight at the moment. And that is not the case. Okay in BiH the both sides of Muslims andCroats, BiHarmija and HVO have agreed that UNPROFOR monitors willpatrol the cease- fire or rather front-line between the two fighting parties. They started with it today and every patrol car also included an two un- armed representatives of the both side of the line. Of courseUNPROFOR needs soon more troops to keep up with this task and itlooks that different European countries are starting to send thosetroops, at least the UK seems to think serious about it. UN would like tohave troops from the UK, France and the USA, it was said.UNPROFOR general Rose especially needs them in Sarajevo, hestated that the sporadic cease-fire violations in the town has grown tobecome a serious problem of the existing cease-fire in the last week. In Croatia again yesterday evening shell landed, shot from SerbianKrajina territory on the Kasic area near Zadar. Not so much that theCroatian Television puts it in top of the screen, this announces that insome town in Croatia there is general or air alarm I haven't seen for along time. And also in Mostar some cease-fire violations has taken placein the last days. If I read the Croatian newspapers it is clear that in allthis attacks, they weren't the ones who started it or even were involved.Peace fully they were sitting smoking their cigarettes and drinking theirpivo and suddenly the other side pumped grenades on their heads.Maybe, maybe not. And more over, what has happened in the Zadarregion when it was quiet in the last two weeks, did really nothinghappened or was it just not published for one or another reason. Findingout what really happened is hardly possible, you always live on theborder line of true and maybe one-side coloured information (it is saidthat Radio Free Europe will start soon with un-biased news for this area,we will see). All this messages from cease-fire violation are pooping up againbetween the stories about the implications of the agreement and howgood everything will be now this agreements are signed. A kind ofdouble tongue, some people would say, we are drifting between ourenemy and friend imago's of the others. Who are you I asked one ofthese friends, are you Muslim, are you Croat, or are you Yugoslav, witha laugh. If I have to carry all the symbols of the religious and otherwiseinvolved in my origin I couldn't move an inch, he reacted. Maybe if theyasked me I would fight again, maybe not, and I don't known on whichside if they ask me. The Presidential Council for Defence and National Security of Croatiahad their 37th meeting today. They discussed the changing situation allin all they were positive about the fact that the boycott is now of. On aminister conference from the European countries in Trieste even aresolution was adopted in favour of help for Croatia. What a change in amonth, when those same ministers discussed if they should boycottCroatia. Anyway following the statement of Dr. Tudjman yesterday the councilalso decided that they will make a list of wishes and demands towardsthe UN.. This lists should be send to the UN Security Council and let'ssee which demands Croatia is putting forwards in order to prolong theUNPROFOR mandate. All the demands are strictly within the guide- lines giving in the different UN resolutions about Croatia, it was said.We have again three weeks to go with negotiations about the mandate,we have had that some time before. Each negotiation starts with thiskind of opening bid of Croatia. Each time it is said that the mandatewouldn't be prolonged since UNPROFOR is not doing their job. Andthan the UN comes with a lot of promises and explanations why theycouldn't fulfil their former promises and we have another three months aquiet situation. It is a bit as with this air-strikes, that also happened a few times up tonow. NATO puts his air-force in, the Bosnian Serbs back off and forsome time it is relative quiet. My friend thinks that it will go on that wayfor some years. But maybe something really will happen. Maybe one ofthe parties don't want to follow this path anymore, maybe Croatia reallythrows out UNPROFOR. The coming weeks will be full with all this typeof thoughts in people minds, waiting........, maybe for war (which ismuch more clear) or for peace, which is not clear at all, how to build itup.....
