Just some months ago Fikret Abdic was fighting against the BiHarmijawhen the 5th corps came to included the Bihac pocket under Sarajevo control. As protest of this action, UNHCR has decided to bring less food to the refugees of Bihac who are now still in Sector North, refugees from the fight between Abdic troops and BiHarmija, partly those who are now mobilized by Abdiz to fight together with BiHarmija. So just to fresh up your mind, in sector North (RSK) under Karlovac there are still a few thousand refugees in RSK controlled area. This are Muslims who or or fought together with Abdic agianst the BiHarmija (mainly Mulim) or escaped the fighting and what away. At this moment there are fight between the Bosnian Serbs and the Muslims in Bihac and the Serbian forces from RSK have joint the fight and launched attacks on the Bihac area from there territories. Those refugees in sector North from who some want to return to Bihac have to first pass RSK cotrolled territory in order to join the BIHarmija troops in their fights against the troops from the Bosnian Serb Army and probebly alo against RSK troops or troops operatin from there. And all the fighting ofcorse creates new refugee movings. Try to keep track who has been flying from whom at which period and why. At last after months of "tension" and talks, behind closed doors, between local and national representatives and UNPROFOR the situation at the checkpoint in Lipik is solved. This morning UNPROFOR and Croatian police hae opened their joint checkpoint. A total different story than that statement of Tudjman yesterday, but this was of course an agreement between UNPROFOR and Croatia state. And this weekend in Mohac in south Hungary a meeting will take place of people involved in our Pakrac project on both side. It is a pity that in this first meeting no really local people will particiate, only Simo from Okucani, but he works for UNOV, the rest are people from Zagreb and Beograd and International volunteers. But at least for Simo it is the first possibility to see Goran again after more than a year. Since his prison time in Croatia last year he hasn't been really back in Croatian controlled terretory, UN pass or not. That centre in Mohac is created by people from HCA Wageningen in the Netherlands. It should be a place were people from UNPA's of both sides can meet eachother. For the area directly under Hungary not such a Detour, for people from sector west it means that they have to travel all the way via Beograd. From a friend who works at UNPROFOR I heard that Akashi will put tomorrow censorship on all the UN and UNPROFOR phoniness in the areas. It seems that he will start to forbid all telephone connections with crisis area with former Yugoslavia. UNPROFOR will not longer dispatch those request. So from tomorrow it will be a lot more difficult to get news out of f.e. the Bihac region. All information of the fighting will be only reported by UNPROFOR. The order comes by the way from high up, Boutros Boutros Ghali himself have ordered it. At the moment there seems to be a kind of discussion going on inside the UN. Akashi and the local UNPROFOR general said that there is still no proof that RSK troops are involved in the fights around Bihac. Although an invitation to visit Bihac and see bodies of killed "RSK" serbian troops was rejected so far by them. Due to all the work behind the screen of the BBS and trying to understand something about it technical parts involved I lost a bit the track of the date, the last days. It is already the half of the week again, I am already back for two weeks. How fast do I become again part of the normal live again. Yesterday some friends came back from the HCA meeting in Tuzla, but although we made an agreement to meet before they continue their travels back home we missed eachother. So hopefully somebody else will tell me soon how the meeting was. Strange ideas that all those politicians and activists are suddenly in busses all the way to Tuzla. An area which was as good as isolated last year around this time. And although there has been talking abut it for many and many of months now the airport is still not open. I remember how proud the Scandinavia troops were when they went up there with the Leopard tanks. At that moment the opening of the airport was a matter of days it seems, weeks at the most. Those weeks are already months again. There as been again attack on the Tuzla region by the way. Also again fighting in the Kupres region and around the Brcko corridor. Zagreb is having a birthday today, today it is 900 years ago that it was firstly mentioned in a written document and that there was a Zagreb diocese established. The whole year we are already surrounded with the Zagreb 900 year posters and I was surprised when something really would start to happen. Since the year is nearly over. The last days we had some nice television spot about 900 year Zagreb or rather how nice Zagreb is now and tonight almost 900 songs about Zagreb. I am not such a Zagreb freak, 900 that is old, only Maastricht is maybe the same age in my home country.
