Today an agreement was signed between the USA and Croatia about defence and security. Susak, the Croatian minister of Defence flow for it to Washington. That means Susak in the States, Tudjman Granic in Latin America, Valentic in Austria, so only Seks is in the country from the (hard) core group of politicians, let's hope nothing will happen. I don't really knows what it means yet. It is for sure something different than a don't attack agreement. As far as I know from the Dutch-USA agreement, as part of NATO, is that when ever some country attacks the Netherlands the States will come to help, or regards the attack as have been taken place on the USA or something similar. I hardly can imagine that in Croatia- USA agreement something similar is standing, otherwise they, the USAmericans can find themselves in strange situations. Yesterday evening for example nearly the police station in Pakrac (on the Zagreb controlled side of the cease fire line) was hit by a grenade. Such a small grenade which you can fire from a shoulder. Not much damage either, if grenades for that matter still can damage a lot more in Pakrac. Anyway it is considered as an attack on Croatia. The police station is about 50 meters from the house from the volunteers. And it is quiet some times ago than any bigger than a riffle bullet was fired over the line. Yesterday near the highway a little south in the sector the bodies of three killed Serbian soldiers were found, from the Serbian Krajina Armija. It was not clear on which side of the line they were found, neither was anything said of the possible killers. Although the later information happened chronological first and even when I am still against violence it makes it a bit understandable why a day later a small grenade flies over the cease fire line. But as always the later part was told later and with less loudness as the first part on the Croatian news. In another program, Seks, the vice-president of the Croatian parliament, was asked by somebody who introduced himself as being from Pakrac what the Croatian government will do after the last events in Pakrac and will they mobilise Serbian people in Croatia in the army. He didn't answer the part of Pakrac, but said the obvious thing about the question about Serbs. He of course said that Croatian government don't discriminate and that they mobilise everybody which can be of help for the country. He didn't answer something like that in principle nobody should be mobilised or something, but no, we mobilise them all... no matter what nationality. Tudjman had a meeting in the main time with representatives of the around 35.000 Croats who live in Chile. When it was announced one of my friends couldn't refuse to add and who probably live there mostly already since 1945. The next announcement made us if possible even more laughing. The sabor had been talking the whole day about the new wages of the president and the ministers and came to the conclusion that the president of Croatia at least need a raise of 80%. After the sudden raise of 80% in costs for the printing of ARKzin this ofcourse lead to a waterfall of laughs. So ARKzin has to pay Tudjman's raise in income was it all around me. And that if you know that the Tudjman family Ltd. Are not particular the poorest people on the block, they belong to those 75 people in Croatia, who own 80% of all the free industry and capital. To thing maybe the taxes which the family Tudjman has to pay will back up the income of grand pa. In a free moment this afternoon I estimated that round 5 or 7 January Sarajevo will be surrounded, besieged or what ever you call this situation for 1000 days. 7 January is orthodox Christmas. It was useless work I found out later when I found a postcard from Sarajevo on which the year 1994 was printed as going from day 637 to day 999 (according their counting the war started at 4 April 92, I started counting from the moment that Sarajevo was totally surrounded and isolated, but what the hack). For them the first of January 1995 will be the 1000th day of the siege of Sarajevo. Probebly nothing really will change till that day. No real reactions came on the offered peace and cease fire agreement which Karadzic made on Sunday. In Zagreb and elsewhere a police campaign started to check everybody which is wearing a full uniform or a part of it in order the find out if the person in question really is in the army or not. It seems that there are a lot of people in Croatian still running around in uniforms although they are already demobilised. I have also some part of uniforms in my house, gifts from friends of different armies. Anyway this fake soldiers seems to behave badly and give the Croatian army a bad name. There for it now forbidden tat civilians are dressed in uniform parts. Try to imagine, this camouflage army trousers are the best working trousers in the country, they are cheap, you always can get them for free one way or another. Furthermore a big part of the clothing industry is not producing anything else in this country. When I came here nearly 3 years ago the big hit was children uniforms, you saw 8, 9 years old small Croatia soldiers walking with their parents in the park, father glad that for one weekend he didn't had to wear that stinking uniform (or do you thing that there is a laundry on the front line (maybe if the women project in Pakrac comes of the ground there will be one at the cease fire line)). Anyway every workmen and farmer is wearing those camouflage trousers and the body warmers in the winter, the police will have a lot to do. The southern front in the Bihac fights is stable it seems already for two days no heavy fights there, the big fights are now in Velika Kladusa in the north part of the pocket. It seems that BSA wants to break through the northern front and try to walk in from the north. Last but not least, at last one country in Europe got their act together, Norway voted today against the EEC.
